Congratulations to Brendan Dixon of Yarra Ranges – the inaugural Winner of the Bryan Neighbour – Centre Coach Award!
Brendan has been involved in Little Athletics for over 7 years, during this time he has reached a Level 4 coach in the Sprints and Relays. In the last 4 years Brendan has been the senior coach with an emphasis on developing the running events. During the last 3 years, under Brendan’s guidance, the attendance at training has increased from 10% to almost 40% during the summer season. Brendan has worked hard in promoting coaching to other parents and now has small team of 6 coaches covering all events. The flow on effect of athletes being confident in their events is being passed onto other athletes, which in turn is having a positive effect on the entire Centre.
Under the guidance of Brendan the Centre now has a cross country training program as well.
Brendan is known for his quiet demeanour; however, he is very positive and encouraging to all athletes. He builds confidence in both the athletes and parents alike. He is truly respected for his work, effort and commitment to the Centre.
