Important Venue Update - State Track and Field 2015

5 Feb 2015 by Little Athletics Victoria

In previous days there has been extensive media coverage regarding the staging of the 2015 State Track & Field Championships at Lakeside Stadium and in particular the accessibility of the infield (soccer pitch) to conduct field events throughout the weekend.

Little Athletics Victoria has participated in convivial discussions with ‘Melbourne Sports Hub’ in an effort to acquire a solution that will ensure the venue can be utlised in late March.

We are pleased to announce that Lakeside Stadium will host the 2015 Championships with some minor compromises made to the venue and programming in an effort to accommodate all party’s needs satisfactorily.

In brief,

SHOT PUT
• Temporary removable shot put areas will be created within the arena
• These will be scoria surfaces within aluminum trays
• They will be located at the Aughtie Drive end either side of the Javelin run up

DISCUS
• Discus events will be staged both inside and outside the venue
• Further information regarding scheduling will be released prior to the event on the LAVic website.

JAVELIN
• Javelin events will be conducted as per normal.

Please note: For safety reasons, the warm-up track will be closed for the entire weekend.

LAVic considers this is a positive outcome for all our athletes and families who can participate in our premier event of the season at the state athletics facility.

We thank all the Little Athletics community for your ongoing encouragement and assistance throughout this period, along with Athletics Victoria who has provided tremendous backing in negotiating a deal.

We look forward to your continued support.
